Welcome to Newton Academy

The Newton Academy Restoration Committee has been active for several years. Grants have been received to stabilize the cupola, to replace the roof and to do an asbestos abatement on the building. This has all been completed. We are now actively seeking funds to do foundation work on the sills before beginning the restoration of the interior of the building.

Our projected plans call for the building to be used as a community center. It currently houses a medical clinic and Shoreham Preschool. There is a meeting room used regularly by The Shoreham Gathering and the Senior Citizens and open to any other Shoreham groups wishing to use it.

We would like to restore the wonderful old stage for theater productions, have museum rooms for the Historical Society and make the building handicapped accessible.

We need your help! Our goal is to raise as much money as possible through individual contributions, but at least $160,000 (which would be 20% of the project's anticipated costs).
